The inaugural batch of participants recently completed the Module on Management and Leadership under the Capability Building on Innovative Leadership for Legislative Staff (CBILLS) Program at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay.

The CBILLS Program, a capability program designed and implemented by the Academy, aims to capacitate senior executives, managers and technical staff members of both the Senate and House of Representatives in leadership and management skills.

DAP Officer in Charge Magdalena Mendoza welcomed the first batch of participants in the program even as she expressed her appreciation to Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel and Senator Joseph Victor Gomez Ejercito as well as to the Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office of the Philippine Senate and the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives for trusting the Academy in designing and implementing the program.

Meanwhile, Director Julieta Apostol of the Lower House’s Committee on Appropriations and Director Eireen R. Palanca of the LBRMO also gave their messages of support and inspiration to the participants while expressing hope that the program will enable them to become agents of change to each other and to the public that they serve.

The program was conceived after Congress identified education and training capability building as a necessary intervention to ensure that members of the legislative staff are able to effectively assist in the lawmaking functions of the country’s legislators.  The program targets 70 participants capacitated in management and leadership skills within the year.
