The Development Academy of the Philippines, through its Center for Governance, is set to facilitate the conduct of the second Foreign Academic Visit for the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines (LVGP) at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands this coming November.

The Foreign Academic Visit, the third phase of the Education and Training Capability Building Seminar for the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines, will feature a short course on planning and governance, with focus on planning, agriculture, water, climate change, housing, and federalism.

The first two phases included the Foundation Course on Local Governance and Legislation, which was held last February at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay, and the recent Foreign Academic Visit, the first of its kind, last July at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore.

Even as this developed, the LVGP thanked Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel for being instrumental in the funding from the General Appropriations Act of the first two phases of the program.

The entire program is designed to enable the LVGP members to discharge their functions effectively and efficiently by equipping them with knowledge on fundamental principles, concepts, and tools on local governance and legislation.

Some 41 vice governors and staff members and 33 vice governors and officials attended the first two phases of the program, respectively.
