The Development Academy of the Philippines, through its Public Management Development Program (PMDP), is set to open its pilot class for Local Government Executives and Managers (LGEMC) in November, as it also continues to hone the competencies of government executives and middle managers in the Philippine bureaucracy.

This program for LGEMC aims to strengthen the capabilities of local government leaders so that they become more effective, adaptive, and innovative in sustaining the delivery of public services at the local level. It will cover various perspectives on development and governance; areas of strategic public management such as local finance and budget, policy for local economic development, innovation and strategic management, and project management; and personal efficacy and leadership.

The LGEMC will be handled by esteemed faculty through a flexible learning mode which combines synchronous and asynchronous sessions using available online learning technologies. Hence, aspiring scholars are expected to have good and stable internet connectivity.

Department Heads or its equivalent, including those in-charge of critical local government functions, and are holding permanent positions in their municipalities (1st to 6th income class), are invited to apply for the pilot class. Municipal Mayors, preferably first and second termers, with at least a college degree and no more than fifty years of age, are also welcome to enroll in the program.

For the pilot run, the National Government through the PMDP, shall grant selected nominees a scholarship to cover 100% of the tuition fees.
